Even though it seems as if school just let out for the summer, now is the time for families to plan back-to-school physicals and immunizations. “All of us at the Family Medicine Clinic and Greene County Medical Center understand how important the summer break is for our students and families,” said primary care provider Mary Pedersen, ARNP. “We work diligently to plan our back-to-school efforts during periods that won’t interfere with the window between sporting events and the start of fall practices.”
To that aim, Greene County Medical Center, the Family Medicine Clinic, Public Health and 21st Century Rehab are joining forces to offer free sports physicals, immunization clinics and sports injury assessments.
The Family Medicine Clinic is hosting two free sports physical clinics during the same week, on Tuesday, July 16, and Thursday, July 18. Both will take place from 3 to 6 pm in the Family Medicine Clinic. Public Health will also be offering immunizations on those same dates and times and on Wednesday, July 17, from 4 to 6:15 pm. No insurance or appointments are necessary. Please bring the most current sports physical forms and parental consent if a parent or guardian will not be present. If unable to make it to the free physicals, call 515-386-0500 to schedule an appointment.
Greene County Public Health also offers immunizations on the third Wednesday of each month from 4 to 6:15
pm or Monday through Friday during regular hours of 8 am to 4:30 pm for walk-ins or scheduled appointments. These can be made by calling 515-386-3228.
21st Century Rehab provides free sports injury assessments for all county athletes in grades seven through 12. In addition, they will be available at the high school training room to see athletes with injuries one day each week and are present at home sporting events. For more information or to schedule an assessment, call 515-386-4284.
